Welcome to Adventure²!  I’m so glad to be able to share a part of myself with you!  You may be wondering what this blog is all about, so take a minute and get to know me and my page before you go!

Travel and food are two of my most favorite things in this world.  There is nothing quite like experiencing a new food, a complex flavor, or a restaurant that people have been raving about.  Exploring the world past the small corner I live in, learning about the history of places I visit, and immersing myself in various local scenes is kind of like getting to live in an alternate reality, but still be myself.  And when I get to experience the beautiful tandem of travel and food together?  Pure bliss.

My love of food did not go unpunished, however.  Over the course of about 10 years I gained quite a bit of weight.  Through diet and minimal exercise (because I can find a million other things I’d rather be doing) I have been able to lose around 30 pounds so far.  I still enjoy the foods I love when I travel or on special occasions, but I am certainly eating a much healthier diet these days.

My life outside of travel, food, and fitness really revolves around time spent with my family.  I love a good book, movie, or fun day out with the husband and kids.  This blog is really a nod to my loves of travel and food (the adventures I find) and life in general (the adventures that simply are).

I do hope you will take the time to look around my blog and maybe even find some adventures you want to take in your own life!  If you like what you see, please share my blog with those you are closest to and also leave me a comment or two! I love to hear from others about their own experiences with life.

Why are all of the places listed under the Travel tab in the United States?

I have had the great blessing to be able to travel outside of the country to Mexico and Jamaica.  The reason you won’t find those places listed on my blog is because of how long it has been since I have been there.  I traveled to Jamaica for my honeymoon in 2006 and to Mexico for a vacation in 2007.  Enough time has passed that I am not sure the information I have on those places would be valid any longer.  The other destinations listed go back as far as 2010 if I had to guess, but many of them are places I continue to visit even still.

Who do you travel with?

Most of my travels consist of me and my kids with one of three people:

  1. My husband
  2. My family
  3. My best friend Selena and her son (they could technically be listed under number 2 as well)

You won’t see me go places by myself very much because I like to share my experiences with others.

Out of all of the places you have been, which one is your favorite?

That is a loaded question!  If I absolutely had to choose, I’d have to say Maui, Hawaii.  The surprising thing about that is that Hawaii wasn’t even a place I wanted to go.  I saw the pictures and honestly thought to myself, “why does everyone love this place so much?”  It was my grandmothers life long wish to see Maui and so my husband made it happen.  I can tell you that the pictures don’t come close to doing it justice.  There is just a feeling and a beauty to that place that cannot be described.  After returning home, the vacation blues took residence in our household to the point that we are still talking about possibly moving there one day.

Is there a food you don’t like?

I am not a fan of gelatinous textures in meat.  I think watermelon tastes like sugar water which is less than appealing to me (after all, I’m not a hummingbird!). There are plenty of foods I haven’t tried yet so I can’t be sure.
